Food is a core part of everyone's culture, identity and way of life.
We want to make sure that people all over Europe are able to enjoy
sustainable, healthy, tasty, local food. Cheap food doesn't have to be
bad food. Our current food production and supply system is geared
towards big industry, and favours intensive farming practices that
damage Europe's ecosystems and biodiversity. We want to change that.
Instead of producers, we want to put the consumer first. We want a
different future, that focuses on sustainable farming techniques that
help us use our resources better and waste less. We want to protect
consumers from dangerous GMO produce, and ensure that Europe embraces
the huge variety of fruits ad vegetable varieties that we produce. We
are working to end factory farming, and promote strong animal welfare
standards. We are part of the movement that will change our food
system. We stand for local instead of global – shorter food chains,
that link consumers and producers together in fair local and regional
partnerships. We want to make sure that food is labelled correctly,
and that it is fully traceable. When you buy produce, you should be
sure of what it is and where it came from. Strong Green voices like
José Bové, Carl Schlyter, Bart Staes and Martin Häusling are
working to make sure Europe's food supply are efficient and
sustainable. How can we improve our approach to food even more? In
which fields would you like the EU to be more active? How can we work
together to make sure Europe has a healthy, traceable food supply? You
can be part of this movement to make European food better. Recent
