Welcome to the Olympic Kayak Club…the place for all paddlers. We are
a salty band of paddling misfits from all walks of life. Our members
are young and old, from beginners to seasoned veterans and everywhere
in between. We are a diverse group with one common interest…The love
of paddling and the outdoors we do it in! Our club consists of members
from throughout the Puget Sound and the Kitsap Peninsula area. We are
preparing for an exciting year in 2015. The Club sponsored the Puget
Sound Challenge (PSC) from 2009-2012, paddling approximately 150 NM
each year. We ceased this intensive effort and now stay focused on
Puget Sound trips and overnight paddles. OKC paddle plans this year
include overnight paddles to Lopez & Orcas Island in the San Juans. We
will use the north launch from Orcas to explore Sucia Island and camp
overnight. The trip would allow us to explore both Matias and Patos
Islands. Additional overnight paddles will include Blake and Hope
Islands. We plan to paddle Ozette Lake on the Olympic Peninsula and
will have our 2nd annual paddle progressive dinner in June to four
locations in and around the Bremerton area. We are planning a Hood
Canal Challenge that will take us from Belfair SP along the southern
and western edges of Hood Canal along the shoreline bordering Highways
104 & 101 over several months using shuttles to progressively make our
way to Port Gamble on the Kitsap Peninsula. There are a lot of nice
communities and State Parks for us to paddle on one or two day paddles
throughout April to October. All of the Club meetings and paddles are
posted to the OKC calendar... so come join the Olympic Kayak Club
paddlers for an interesting series of planned paddles in 2015!!
